A video published by Christian Sermons and Audio Books on August 20th, 2026

When all else fails, go back to the simple Word of God: Genesis 2:18 18 And Jehovah God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him. –24 — The foundational institution of marriage: one man and one woman joined as “one flesh.” Matthew 19:4 4 And he answered and said, Have ye not read, that he who made `them' from the beginning made them male and female, –6 — Jesus appeals to Genesis and teaches that God joins husband and wife together. Ephesians 5:22 22 Wives, `be in subjection' unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. –33 — Marriage as a picture of Christ and the church; the wife's submission and the husband's sacrificial love. Colossians 3:18 18 Wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. –19 — Wives submit to husbands; husbands love their wives and must not be harsh with them. 1 Peter 3:1 Chapter 3 1 In like manner, ye wives, `be' in subjection to your won husbands; that, even if any obey not the word, they may without the word be gained by the behavior of their wives; –7 — Duties of wives and husbands, including the husband's responsibility to live with his wife “according to knowledge” and honor her. 1 Corinthians 7:1 Chapter 7 1 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. –16, 32–40 — Sexual obligations, permanence of marriage, separation, unbelieving spouses, and singleness. Hebrews 13:4 4 `Let' marriage `be' had in honor among all, and `let' the bed `be' undefiled: for fornicators and adulterers God will judge. — “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled”; sexual immorality and adultery are condemned. Proverbs 5:15 15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, And running waters out of thine own well. –20 — Marital sexual faithfulness and delight in one's own wife. Proverbs 18:22 22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, And obtaineth favor of Jehovah. — “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.” Proverbs 31:10 10 A worthy woman who can find? For her price is far above rubies. –31 — The character and work of a godly wife. Malachi 2:14 14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because Jehovah hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously, though she is thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. –16 — Marriage described in covenantal terms; God condemns marital treachery. Romans 7:2 2 For the woman that hath a husband is bound by law to the husband while he liveth; but if the husband die, she is discharged from the law of the husband. –3 and 1 Corinthians 7:39 39 A wife is bound for so long time as her husband liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is free to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. — Marriage normally binds husband and wife for life, until death. Matthew 5:31 31 It was said also, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: –32; 19:3–9 — Christ's teaching concerning divorce and sexual immorality. 1 Corinthians 6:15 15 Know ye not that your bodies are members of Christ? shall I then take away the members of Christ, and make them members of a harlot? God forbid. –20 — Sexual union is profoundly bodily and covenantal; sexual immorality contradicts belonging to Christ.
